Uncertain is a cinematic and disarmingly funny portrait of the literal and figurative troubled waters of Uncertain, Texas, a 94-resident town on the brink of extinction.
The town sits on the edge of a vast, swampy lake that is being choked by an aquatic weed, upsetting the natural balance and the town’s only source of livelihood. In a town so tucked away “you’ve got to be lost to find it”, three Uncertain men make their own bids for survival looking to find a more certain future. An ex-convict who becomes obsessed with killing Mr. Ed, a gigantic boar he hunts in order to stay sober. A young, diabetic with big ideas but few prospects fights for a bigger life. An aging fisherman reluctantly letting go of his youthful ways and making peace with one fateful moment thirty years ago.
Uncertain was selected by Tribeca for its world premiere. Since then it has screened at festivals around the world and venues including MOMA in New York and the ICA in London.
The film has picked up a series of awards including Tribeca’s Albert Maysles Best New Documentary Director & the Special Jury Prize at CPH:DOX.
